In recent years, handmade soap has gradually become a new favorite in the field of facial cleansing and skin care. It has been favored by many people, and there has also been a wave of homemade handmade soap. While handmade soap is often popular, the main reason is that people think it is more "natural".

What is handmade soap?

Handmade soap is a vague term, but there are actually many types of it. We generally have cold process soap, hot process soap, soap base soap and so on. Among them, cold-process soap is considered to be a real handmade soap, which is more popular.

Cold process soap is soap made by cold process. When making, soap masters will heat oil (usually edible oil) and mix it with caustic soda solution, so that the two will undergo a saponification reaction to form "soap". In order to ensure that the oil component mixed with the caustic soda solution is not destroyed, the temperature of the cold method should not exceed 45 degrees.

In addition, the handmade soaps just made by the cold method are very alkaline, so they have to be placed for a few weeks, and wait for the pH value of the soap to reach 8-9 and become softer before they can be used.

Compared with cold soap, the hot soap making method is much more convenient. It uses the saponification reaction at high temperature to volatilize the alkali in the ingredients. After being prepared, it can be packaged and used within a week. However, this kind of soap has experienced high temperature during the production process, and the nutrients of the oil will leak out.

The other is soap base soap. It is a kind of "handmade soap" that heats and melts the existing soap base, adds color or fragrance, and then shapes it again.

Where is the "natural" handmade soap?

Experienced soap makers believe that how about a piece of handmade soap, the key is the recipe, and the main oil is better. Common high-quality main oils include vegetable oil, tea oil, sweet almond oil, hazelnut oil, etc. The use of this edible oil is also an important reason why handmade soap is considered "natural".

In addition, the addition of green plant raw materials is also very important. Commonly added green plants include roses, comfrey, lavender, chamomile, orange blossom, calendula, marjoram, molly, osmanthus and so on. Soap masters generally add essential oils, hydrosols, bee pollen, fresh flowers and dried flowers to their handmade soaps by soaking oil and other methods. This kind of flowers, plants and trees have their skin care effects - rose whitening and freckle removal, comfrey reducing fire and acne, lavender whitening skin repair, orange blossom oil control, moisturizing, whitening and moisturizing, marjoram anti-oxidant whitening skin, chamomile is suitable for sensitive skin , Calendula has the effect of repairing the mask after sun exposure.
